Installing your first Five Studios resource

A practical checklist for taking a new map or interior from download to your test server.

01

Before you change anything

Back up your server configuration and the resources you are replacing. Use a test server first, and keep the original download so you can undo your changes. Read the instructions included with your purchase: resource names, dependencies and compatibility notes vary between releases.

02

Check the package

Extract the download and identify the actual resource folder. Avoid placing a second wrapper folder around the resource. Keep the supplied files together and follow the package instructions for any optional versions. Do not enable multiple alternative versions at once unless the documentation tells you to.

03

Start the resource

Follow the package instructions to place the resource in your server resources directory. Use the exact supplied resource name in your server configuration. FiveM’s refresh command rescans resources; ensure RESOURCE_NAME starts a stopped resource or restarts one that is already running. Replace RESOURCE_NAME with the real folder name.

04

Check it in game

Read the server console for startup errors, then visit the location in game. Check entrances, floors, doors and exterior transitions. A successful file transfer is only the first step: test the experience with your existing maps and scripts before adding it to your live server.
