Missing interiors, flickering maps & collisions

Narrow down a mapping problem and collect the details that make it easier to investigate.

01

Describe what you see

Record the exact location and whether the issue affects everyone or one player. Is the interior absent, a surface flickering, a doorway blocked or a floor missing? A screenshot from both sides of the affected area is more useful than “the map is broken”.

02

Check startup first

Look for errors naming the resource in your server console. Confirm the expected resource is enabled and that the installed files match the downloaded package. Record the complete error text before changing anything.

03

Isolate overlapping resources

On a backed-up test server, compare the location with other maps affecting that area disabled. Change one resource at a time and reconnect to test the result. If the problem disappears, record which combination reproduces it. Do not remove files from another author’s package to guess at a fix.

04

Missing interior or resource not found

Check for an extra wrapper folder around the resource and confirm the supplied manifest is present at its root. Verify that the full stream folder and supporting files were uploaded. Use refresh in the server console after adding a resource, then start the exact supplied resource name. An ensure command also restarts a resource that is already running, so use a test server or planned maintenance. Do not replace the supplied manifest with a generic example.

05

Flickering walls and doubled surfaces

Two surfaces occupying the same space are one possible cause of flickering. Look for an older version of the same MLO, a second building replacement or an area-edit resource. Compare the original release on a minimal test setup, then reintroduce other maps one at a time. A start-order change alone is not proof of compatibility.

06

Falling through floors or invisible walls

Record whether the collision is missing or an extra barrier is present. Compare pedestrians and a standard vehicle where appropriate. Recheck the complete original package and nearby map replacements. Do not blindly delete YBN, YTYP or YMAP files: they serve different roles and removing them can cause further faults. Provide the exact coordinates, room and screenshots from both sides of the problem.

07

Rooms disappear from particular angles

If a room is visible from one view but disappears at a doorway or camera angle, record the route and both views. Interior visibility or overlapping map data may need investigation by the asset author. Do not treat this automatically as a client cache issue or change protected map files to experiment.

08

Missing textures, late loading or one affected player

Compare the unmodified textures and the same location with a second client. Note whether textures never load or only appear nearby, and whether the problem occurs after changing a texture pack. For one affected player, reconnect and compare without additional visual modifications. Avoid deleting whole game or cache folders or raising streaming limits as a blanket fix; first identify whether the issue is client-specific, a conflicting resource or an incomplete release.

09

Doors stay locked or interactions are missing

Check whether the problem is a visible locked door, an invisible barrier or a missing menu. Door-lock, garage, inventory and job integrations have their own configuration and access rules. Follow the release instructions and the integration’s documentation. The presence of a room or prop does not automatically provide its gameplay interaction.

10

Entitlement or build requirement errors

An escrow entitlement error concerns access to the resource, not the appearance of the map. Check the purchasing account, delivery instructions and any relevant subscription status, then contact support with the exact message. Never share your server key. If a dependency or game-build requirement is reported, follow the version required by your package; do not choose an arbitrary build number or bypass the requirement.

11

Send a reproducible report

Include the Five Studios product, installed version if supplied, nearby mapping resources, screenshots and the steps that reproduce the problem. Tell us what changed immediately before it started. Do not share your server key, passwords or complete configuration files.
